The free chart

The free chart, the four pillars, the compatibility check, the date checker — all of it is worked out inside your browser, on your device, by the site's own astronomy code. Your birth details are not sent to our servers to make it. Close the tab and they're gone. That's not a policy we promise to follow; it's how the code works.

The gender question is optional. It appears on the single-chart form only, and it does exactly one thing: the four-pillars method sets the direction of your 10-year cycles by it. Skip it — the default, or the explicit decline — and nothing is recorded, nothing is sent, and nothing is guessed; MOON simply leaves those cycles out and reads everything else the same. Answer it and the answer is used to work out the cycles on your device. What reaches our server, if you buy a reading, is the resulting cycle dates — not the answer.

Paid readings

A paid reading is written for your exact chart, and that can't happen on your device. When you order one:

• Your birth details and finished chart (plus a first name, only if you typed one) go to our server, which passes the chart to Anthropic's API, the service your reading is written through. That is the only thing the data is used for. Your email is never sent with it.
• The finished reading is stored for two years at an unguessable private link, so you can come back to it instead of losing it with a browser tab. The link is excluded from search engines.
• The delivery page asks for an email address, and it is optional — the reading is the same without it. If you give one, it is used for exactly one message: that link, sent to you once the reading is written. It is not added to any list, not stored with the reading, not included in analytics, and never sent on.
• If you start a checkout that stashes your chart first, that stash lives seven days, then expires on its own.

Payment

Gumroad processes every payment. Your card number goes to Gumroad and stays there — it never reaches our servers in any form. What we receive from a sale is the order itself: which reading, the price, an order number, and the buyer's country. If a reading needs to reach your inbox, we hold your email and order number to send it.

The daily email

If you sign up for the daily email, we store your address along with the chart basics you shared (Sun, Moon, rising, and the birth details behind them) — that's what lets the emails reference your chart instead of a generic one. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. No account, no password, no win-back sequence.

Analytics

We run our own first-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no ad trackers on this site. Checkout is the exception, and it is not ours: payment happens on Gumroad's own pages, and advertising measurement can run there. Nothing on moondontlie.com carries it. What an event contains: the page you're on, where you came from, screen width, and a random identifier stored in your own browser (a local ID instead of tracking cookies). Country comes from the network edge; your IP address is not stored in analytics, and your birth data is never in it at all. IPs are used briefly for rate-limiting abuse and expire from that store within hours.

The only third-party request the site itself makes is loading fonts from Google Fonts. Once you leave for checkout you are on Gumroad, under Gumroad's privacy policy, not this one.
