What we see. What we don't.
A birth date, time and place is intimate data — it's the raw material of everything this site does. So here is exactly where yours goes, written from how the site is actually built, not from a template. The short version: the free chart never leaves your browser, and we sell nothing about you to anyone.
The free chart, the Korean chart pillars, the compatibility check, the date checker — all of it is computed inside your browser, on your device, by the site's own astronomy code. Your birth details are not sent to our servers to make it. Close the tab and they're gone. That's not a policy we promise to follow; it's how the code works.
A paid reading is written for your exact chart, and that can't happen on your device. When you order one:
- Your birth details and computed chart (plus a first name, only if you typed one) go to our server, which passes the chart to Anthropic's API — the language model that writes the prose. That is the only thing the data is used for. Your email is never sent to the model.
- The finished reading is stored for two years at an unguessable private link, so you can come back to it instead of losing it with a browser tab. The link is excluded from search engines.
- If you start a checkout that stashes your chart first, that stash lives seven days, then expires on its own.
Gumroad processes every payment. Your card number goes to Gumroad and stays there — it never reaches our servers in any form. What we receive from a sale is the order itself: which reading, the price, an order number, and the buyer's country. If a reading needs to reach your inbox, we hold your email and order number to send it.
If you sign up for the daily email, we store your address along with the chart basics you shared (Sun, Moon, rising, and the birth details behind them) — that's what lets the emails reference your chart instead of a generic one. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. No account, no password, no win-back sequence.
We run our own first-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no ad trackers. What an event contains: the page you're on, where you came from, screen width, and a random identifier stored in your own browser (a local ID instead of tracking cookies). Country comes from the network edge; your IP address is not stored in analytics, and your birth data is never in it at all. IPs are used briefly for rate-limiting abuse and expire from that store within hours.
The only third-party request the site itself makes is loading fonts from Google Fonts.
What we will never do
Sell your data. Share your birth details with advertisers. Quietly subscribe you to anything. There is no version of this business where your chart is the product being sold to someone else — the reading is the product, and you're the one buying it.
Deleting everything
Email hello@moondontlie.com from the address you used, say "delete me", and we remove your stored readings, your email-list entry, and anything else tied to you. Payment records live with Gumroad and follow Gumroad's own privacy policy.
